1: TREE PRUNING.
Crown Reductions. Crown Thinning. Re-Shaping. Re-Balancing. Target Pruning.
Trees are pruned for various reasons. To allow more light onto a garden or house. To reduce the risk of damage by high winds. To increase a desired view. This can all be achieved by various modern pruning techniques.
It is important to understand how the many different species of trees grow and react to being pruned.
The end result should maintain the natural esthetic look and inherent value of the tree.

  • Crown Reduction – to reduce the overall size of the trees canopy while maintaining the esthetic beauty and respecting the trees natural form.
  • Crown Thinning – to reduce the risk of storm damage by allow strong winds to pass through the canopy reducing wind resistance and the potential risk of structural failure. This procedure also allows more light to pass through the canopy onto the garden.
  • Re-Reshaping, Re-balancing and Target Pruning – to restore a tree by careful selective pruning after damage by storm, disease, decay, or previous incorrect pruning methods.

2: TREE REMOVAL.
The controlled, safe removal of any tree or trees considered dangerous enough to present a qualified risk to life or property caused by a serious structural failure.
Such trees, weakened by storm damage, disease or decay are systematically ‘dismantled ‘ using modern rigging and rope retention techniques. Safely lowering the tree in sections, piece by piece. No matter how dangerous or difficult to access. Close proximity to buildings, phone lines, power cables, main roads, fencing and all other structures and potential hazards are all carefully avoided, any tree can be safely removed. Safety always comes first under controlled conditions.

3: HEDGELAYING & WOODLAND MANAGEMENT.

  • Traditional hedgelaying – is the art of transforming an overgrown, neglected hedgerow into a beautiful, living and natural green fence. This operates as a secure boundary or a privacy screen. As an added benefit this process also provides a superb habitat for garden birds and other wildlife. Once made, it simply improves with age, becoming richer supporting all manor of wildlife.
  • Woodland management – We advise owners of woodlands how to look after and manage their woodland. We first identify with the owner what they want from their woodland. We then make a specific program to manage maintain and improve the woodland or even to plant a new wood. With careful planning and management the same woodland can fulfil many different functions. Woodland can be managed both as a nature reserve and as a source of timber for construction and firewood. The timber can be selectively harvested for personal use and/or for sale. Whatever the intended purpose for a woodland all work is carried out in a way to maximise the wildlife potential. Taking actions to increase and encourage biodiversity by habitat enrichment.

4: GARDEN STRUCTURES, FURNITURE AND SCULPTURES.

  • Garden structures –  for example, an arbour or decorative screen, which can also be used as a framework for climbing plants.
  • Garden furniture – the benches, tables and chairs specifically designed and built to be used and kept outside.
  • Sculptures – there are many different styles to choose from.
Sculptures can be figurative or organic and free flowing.
Everything is hand made and site specific. Tailored to each garden, using only natural, tree and plant materials. The raw material is gathered, where possible, locally or from the surrounding area. The method of construction is a combination of skills taken from the traditional (British) green woodworking, bodging, hedgelaying and coppicing techniques.
